SDSMT Chi Psi is focused on building a lasting bond that transcends self-interest and the limits of time or space. We hold events every week where members can spend time with each other and improve their relationships with each other. We believe that through these bonds, better men are built.
We started the year off by heading out to Pactola Beach and spending the day swimming and grilling.
For our next event of the year, we went to Jenny Gulch. Although some of us just swam and relaxed to the music, others decided to jump off cliffs; and yes, that is Henry doing a backflip.
We tailgated when our rivals came to Mines to play football his year, and had a great time grilling and hanging out. Thankfully, Nico brought his bus so we could watch the game from the best seats in the stadium.
Nothing clears the mind better than half the day hiking, and that's what was necessary when we worked our way up to Black Elk Peak. With an elevation of 7,244 feet, Black Elk Peak is the highest point between the Rocky Mountains in the western United States and the Pyrenees Mountains in France. The trail we took was 7 miles long round-trip, so we definitely got our steps in for the day.
When our Central Office representatives came down to visit us, we knew that we had to show them the staples of South Dakota and the Rapid City area. We took them to see the beautiful Mount Rushmore and enjoyed dinner at a local restaurant, Philly Ted's.
No matter the weather here in Rapid City, Chi Psi always finds a way to get together and catch up. It turns out tacos are the best food for forming bonds!
